Pyraichmes (King of Evia)
Pyraichmes ( Greek Πυραίχμης "the lance of fire") is a figure in Greek mythology .
Pyraichmes was king of Euboea and made war against Boeotia . However, the young Heracles overwhelmed him and tied his body to foals, which divided him in two. He left the body unburied. All of this happened on an unlocatable Boeotian river called Herakleios. The place of the event is said to have been called "the foals of Pyraichmes" ( Πῶλοι Πυραίχμου ) and when horses drank from the river, the foals could be heard neighing.
