Otto Höfer
Otto Höfer (born February 3, 1861 in Bad Schandau , † December 4, 1919 in Dresden ) was a German high school teacher and classical philologist .
Höfer first attended the community school in Schandau, then in Hainichen , from 1873 the grammar school in Freiberg , from 1874 the prince and state school St. Afra in Meißen . After graduating from high school in 1880, he studied classical philology at the University of Leipzig . In May 1886 he passed the state examination for higher teaching post. He then worked as a teacher at the Gymnasium in Wurzen , from 1887 at the Neustädter Realgymnasium in Dresden and from 1890 at the Wettiner Gymnasium in Dresden.
He has written numerous articles on ancient mythology for the detailed Dictionary of Greek and Roman mythology of Wilhelm Heinrich Roscher .
