Pyta.pl is a Polish-speaking , satirical video blog , which in 2005 by Mikołaj "Jaok" Janusz was created and Piotr "Koza" Kozerski. Each episode reports on public events (usually of a political nature) in which the authors put controversial questions to the participants.

In 2006 the creators of the video blog set up a channel on YouTube , on which the recordings from Pyta.pl are still published today. In the years 2012–2013 the episodes were broadcast on RBL.TV and only later distributed on the Internet. In 2013, the blog reports were also broadcast on TVP2 as part of the cyclical cabaret evening " Thank God, it's the weekend " .

On May 28, 2012, Pyta.pl was among the top 10 best YouTubers in Poland , the portal took 10th place. In the evaluation prepared by the interaktywnie.com service, “authors with over 10 million views were taken into account, whose job profile was similar (mainly entertainment), who offered their own content and who uploaded at least one in the last three months”.

Due to the breakup of the team, a new YouTube channel was founded in 2016, which brought the audience statistics in the service back to zero.

In 2007, the weekly Wprost named the channel's authors among the five potential stars of the Polish Internet. The program was described by the radio medium Publiczne as “a whole piece of history of the Polish Internet or even Polish journalism”. In 2012 the portal Gazeta.pl named the authors of the YT channel as the best provocateurs in Poland, who “could tear everyone's nerves in everyday life, both those who defend TV TRWAM and those who fight for homosexual adoption rights fight". In the same year, the weekly " Newsweek " mentioned Pyta.pl as a controversial video blog, while the monthly magazine CKM described the reporters of the vlog as the authors of the "cult video service on the Internet".

In September 2006, the daily newspaper " Życie Warszawy " stated that Pyta.pl sympathized with the right-wing scene and specialized in the provocations that the left-wing circles should hit. In 2013 the magazine “ Komputer Świat ” announced that the films in the video blog “masterfully expose the naivety and complexities of some social groups that are mainly focused on the right-wing political scene”.

Scientific literature

In the scientific literature, the authors of Pyta.pl are cited as an example of bloggers who “limit themselves to a single type of content that is published on their pages, but at the same time they are qualitatively inconsistent”, saying that “ In the current situation on the Internet, any typology of blogs misses the mark ”(Graszewicz, 2013) The blog is listed among the programs that are“ generally available on the Internet and are very popular ”, admitting that“ they are a great Present competition for television because they are not inscribed in any specific time frame that we have to adhere to ”(Kruszynski, 2015).

  • The video blog authors start working in parallel with YT activities in traditional media with independent programs. As a group of authors, Pyta.pl, they conducted opinion polls on the streets for Tele 5 , from 2012–2013 they ran the weekly program “PTOK” on TOK FM radio , and from 2014–2015 they presented the weekly program Pyta nie na sniadanie .
  • From December 2012 to 2013 the program episodes were initially broadcast on RBL.TV, and only later after a week (and some repetitions on RBL.TV that were published on the Internet).
  • The Pyta.pl team recorded short films in 2013 that presented current events as part of the entertainment program “Thank God, it's the weekend” on TVP2 , for example Pyta.pl - What about culture? (the reporters asked passers-by about their cultural tastes), or Pyta.pl - Who should be Pope? (the episode about the resignation of Pope Benedict XVI. ).
  • Pyta.pl also produced the film " Komisarz Puk i Brojlery Nieuprzejmości " (2014). The scriptwriter and director was Mikolaj “Jaok” Janusz, the photos and editing were done by Piotr “Koza” Kozerski, and the entire production was directed by Grzegorz Zacharjasiewicz.
  • In 2016 Jaok published the book " Pyta.pl polowanie na frajerów ", which was published by the publishing house Czerwone i Czarne. The book describes, among other things, the background of the program production.
