QIC (quarter-inch cartridge) is a historical magnetic tape system for the backup ( backup ) and archiving of data. It uses cassettes with up to 460 m long and 6.5 mm (¼ ") wide magnetic tape. The small mini-QIC or mini-DC cassettes (sometimes also called Travan ) contain 8 in later versions (QIC Wide) mm tape and are therefore actually not QIC cartridges at all.

QIC is standardized by Cartridge Drive Standards, Inc., an international association of drive and media manufacturers.
