Qiushi

Qiushi ( Chinese  求 是 , Pinyin Qiúshì ) is a Chinese party magazine that is published twice a month. Translated, its title means: "Search for truth". It has been published every fortnight since July 1, 1988 by the Central Committee of the Chinese Communist Party and is its organ. It was referred to as the "theory journal of the KP".

The name of the newspaper comes from the saying "Seeking the truth in the facts" ( 实事求是 , Shí shì qiú shì ), one of the central formulas used by Deng Xiaoping (1904–1997), with which he introduced the reform policy . The Chinese characters on the magazine's logo were written by Deng Xiaoping himself. The English version was published in 2009. The predecessor of Qiushi was Hongqi ( 红旗 , literally: "Rote Fahne" / Engl. Red Flag ), published from 1958 to 1988.

In June 2016, Zhu Tiezhi (1960–2016), 56, the deputy editor-in-chief of Qiushi, committed suicide. According to an article by Caixin ( 财 新 ), Zhu Tiezhi was "depressed by the ideological clashes within the party between the reformists and the increasingly virulent supporters of a conservative line in line with President Xi Jinping's slogans ."
