The Quanfang beiu ( Chinese  全 芳 備 祖  /  全 芳 备 祖 , Pinyin Quánfāng bèizǔ  - "Complete Chronicle of Fragrances"), a thesaurus of botany , was written by Chen Jingyi (陈景沂) from Taizhou City . The foreword dates from 1256 during the Southern Song Dynasty .

The work has two parts (ji), the first contains 27 chapters (juan), the second 31.

It is the world's first scientific botanical lexicon.

It contains information about the ingredients, drinks, and foods used in cooking in ancient times. Accordingly, it is a prime source for the history of Chinese food and drink culture.

The work is divided into seven subject groups :

  • Fruits (guo 果)
  • Blossoms (hui 卉)
  • Herbs (cao 草)
  • Trees / bushes (mu 木)
  • Agriculture and sericulture (nongsang 农 桑)
  • Vegetables (shu 蔬)
  • Medicinal plants (yao 药).

A modern edition was published in 1982 by Nongye chubanshe (Agricultural Publishing House ) in Beijing.
