The Queen Elizabeth Territorial Park is a provincial park in the south of the Canadian Northwest Territories . Unlike most of the other Canadian provinces, the provincial parks in the Northwest Territory are called Territorial Parks . The Territorial Parks is almost on the border with the province of Alberta . Farther south is only the 60th Parallel Territorial Park .
The park is on the outskirts of Fort Smith , on the Slave River . The park is accessible via the Fort Smith Highway (Northwest Territories Highway 5) and is adjacent to the local airfield.
The park, which is located on the so-called Wood Buffalo Route , has 24 parking spaces for mobile homes and tents and has simple sanitary facilities. The park also has a so-called day use area .
