cross stand. musical concepts is a musicological series founded in 2005 by Heinz-Klaus Metzger and Rainer Riehn . The focus of the periodical is on the musical avant-garde of all epochs.

Based on Theodor W. Adorno's musical aesthetics , the row stands across. musical concepts for a radical, emphatic modernism and is dedicated to progressive composers, not just of the 20th century, whereby the music of the Schönberg School always plays a central role.

Metzger and Riehn continue their editorial work in the series querstand. musical concepts continued at Stroemfeld Verlag after the contract for the series Musik- Konzept , which they founded in 1977, was terminated by the publisher edition text + kritik on December 31, 2003.
