Quantitative Ingredients Declaration

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Quantitative Ingredients Declaration (quantity labeling of food ) or QUID is a rule in Article 22 of the Food Information Regulation and states that the amount of an ingredient must be specified on the packaging in percent by weight.

It applies if:

  • the ingredient or an ingredient class is mentioned in the name of the food (e.g. strawberry yoghurt , fish fingers )
  • the ingredient or ingredient class in question is of essential importance for the characterization of a food and its differentiation from other products (e.g. sponge cakes : proportion of egg)
  • the ingredient is highlighted on the label with words, pictures or graphics (so-called valuable components, e.g. red cabbage " refined with currant juice " )

This should give the consumer the opportunity to compare the quality of products.
