Quintus Porcius Potitus

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Quintus Porcius Potitus was a member of the Roman knighthood ( Eques ) living in the 2nd century AD .

A military diploma dated May 19, 135, shows that Potitus 135 was in command of the Ala I Augusta Britannica , which was stationed in the province of Pannonia Inferior at that time ; the leadership of this unit is likely to have been his fourth military command ( Militia quarta ).

Potitus was a member of the Celtic tribe of the Cadurci . Presumably he is identical to the procurator Porcius Potitus , who is listed in an inscription on a leaden water pipe that was found in Rome.
