Roman circular moat on the Sparrenberger Egge
The Roman circular moat on the Sparrenberger Egge are the remains of the construction site of a Roman tower, probably a signal tower , from the time of the Romans in Germania in Bielefeld in North Rhine-Westphalia . First, a suspicious embankment was noticed near the Gasthof Brand's Busch , which was investigated in more detail in 1989. The system has a diameter of 32 m. It was not completed. The wall-ditch defense should surround the tower. Shoe nails and a coin found within the complex probably come from Roman soldiers from the years 32/31 BC. Until the discovery of the Roman marching hammernear Sennestadt a corresponding camp was suspected here in the area not far from the Bielefelder Pass .
