Excavation with the villa's bathhouse

The Roman Villa Elling is a listed property in the Elling district in the municipality of Moosdorf in Upper Austria.

Remnants of the wall were discovered in 2002 during the construction of an access road. In 2003, parts of a Roman villa rustica were excavated by the archaeologist Wolfgang Klimesch in collaboration with the Federal Monuments Office . A bathing building with five rooms, a long courtyard wall, six waste pits and two wells were found. The establishment is assumed for the year 200. Since the lime masonry cannot withstand the winter temperatures, the monument was filled in again and is not visible. Found objects such as coins, tools and pottery can be viewed in the Moosdorf municipal office.
