history

The name Moosdorf was first mentioned in a document around 1130 in the traditions (book about donations) of the Benedictine monastery Michaelbeuern with "Chunradus de Mostorf". The settlement of the Ice Age moraine wall occurred much earlier. This is proven by the excavation of a villa rustica (Roman manor). In 1682 the construction of the single-nave branch church of the Eggelsberg parish in Moosdorf began. This is to St. Consecrated to Stefan. From 1784 Moosdorf became its own parish. In 1850 Moosdorf achieved the status of its own municipality and includes the cadastral communities Moosdorf and Stadl. The places Malling (today near Kimmelsdorf) and Mühlbach (today near Elling) were mentioned in the parish articles until the 19th century.

On August 11, 2006, the Cologne artist Gunter Demnig laid stumbling blocks for the two Nazi victims Johann Lenz and Josef Weber.
