coat of arms

The crown refers to the former importance of Feldkirche as the center of a royal estate that existed as early as the Carolingian era; the diamonds in the crown's headband are reminiscent of the Innviertel's former affiliation to Bavaria. The coat of arms was designed by Martin Stachl from Braunau am Inn.

history

In 757, a royal palace was established in Mattighofen. In 1007 Mattigau was donated to the diocese of Bamberg and from there it was repopulated by Franconia and Swabia. For many years Mattighofen and thus Feldkirchen belonged to Bavaria. With the Treaty of Teschen in 1779, the entire Innviertel became part of Austria.
