Tarsdorf is a municipality with 2060 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2020) in the west of the Upper Austrian district of Braunau am Inn in the Innviertel . The responsible judicial district is the judicial district Mattighofen , until 2004 the municipality belonged to the judicial district Wildshut .

geography

Tarsdorf lies at an altitude of 429 m in the Innviertel. The extension is 7.1 km from north to south and 6.8 km from west to east. The total area is 32.2 km². 37.9% of the area is forested, 54.7% of the area is used for agriculture.

Official description of the municipal coat of arms : In red a golden sword of flames, accompanied on the right by a silver woodruff flower with a silver stem and silver leaves, on the left by a silver rosemary heather flower with a silver stem and a silver leaf. The community colors are green-white-red.

history

The place was first mentioned in a document in 1070 . Tarsdorf belonged to Bavaria for centuries. With the Treaty of Teschen in 1779, the entire Innviertel and Tarsdorf became part of Austria. In 1850 the political local community Tarsdorf was founded.

Mayor is Andrea Holzner from the ÖVP.

Population development

In 1991 the community had 1,793 inhabitants according to the census, in 2001 it had 1940 inhabitants. Since both the birth balance and the migration balance remained positive until 2011 , the population rose to 1,998 in 2011.
