Handenberg is a municipality with 1308 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2020) in the upper Innviertel in Upper Austria . The responsible judicial district is the judicial district Braunau am Inn .
geography
Handenberg is 497 m above sea level in the upper Innviertel. The extension is 6.9 km from north to south and 6.9 km from west to east. The total area is 27.6 km². Cadastral communities are Adenberg and Sandtal.
The Fillmannsbach flows through the municipality from south to north .

history
Since the founding of the Duchy of Bavaria, Handenberg was Bavarian until 1779 and came to Austria after the Treaty of Teschen and the Innviertel (then 'Innbaiern'). During the Napoleonic Wars briefly Bavarian again, since 1814 it has finally belonged to Austria ob der Enns . After the connection of Austria to the German Reich on 13 March 1938, the place to "Upper Danube" belonged. After 1945 the restoration of Upper Austria took place.

Since January 1st 2007, Handenberg has formed an administrative community with the community of St. Georgen am Fillmannsbach .
Culture and sights
- Handenberg parish church : Gothic, mid-15th century. Two aisles, with baroque interior (2nd half of the 17th century). 1518 erection of a tower, further expanded from 1710 to 1716. The church is dedicated to St. Martin consecrated.
