Treubach is a municipality in Upper Austria in the Braunau am Inn district in the Innviertel with 721 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2020).

geography

The place Treubach is 417 m above sea level in the Innviertel hill country , on the northern edge of the Kobernaußerwald ( spatial unit Hausruck and Kobernaußer Wald ).

The extension is from north to south 5.6 km, from west to east 5.4 km, the total area is 13 km².

16.9% of the area is forested, 76.2% of the area is used for agriculture.

Population development

In 1991 the community had 698 inhabitants according to the census, in 2001 it had 749 inhabitants. The population increased as the birth balance and migration balance were positive. From 2001 to 2011 there was a strong emigration that could not be offset by the birth balance, so that the number of inhabitants fell to 718.

history

In 803 the name Treubach appeared for the first time in the documents of the Mondsee Abbey .

In 1140 the castle and castle church with a pond were mentioned for the first time. In 1364 there was a battle for Tyrol near Treubach. In 1465 Treubach became a place of pilgrimage through a papal letter of indulgence. From 1671 to 1677 there was famine in Treubach. From 1733 to 1743 the plague hit Treubach several times. In 1785 Treubach became an independent parish.

Since the founding of the Duchy of Bavaria , the place was Bavarian until 1779. Treubach came to Austria after the Treaty of Teschen with the Innviertel (then Innbaiern ) . During the Napoleonic Wars briefly Bavarian again , the place has been part of Austria on the Enns since 1816 ( Treaty of Munich ) .

With the creation of the local parishes after 1848/49 , Treubach became an independent parish in 1851. The first school was built in Treubach in 1856. In 1893 the Treubach volunteer fire brigade was founded . Since 1918 the place belongs to the federal state of Upper Austria . In 1926 the Pfendhub volunteer fire brigade was founded. In 1929 there was a devastating storm in the village. After the annexation of Austria to the German Reich on March 13, 1938, the place belonged to the Gau Oberdonau . In 1945 Upper Austria was restored. In 1965 the sport union was founded, in 1981 a new municipal office was inaugurated, a municipal coat of arms was awarded and the Treubacher Prangerschützen was founded .

A black wavy bar in gold , accompanied at the top by two blue cornflowers and at the bottom by a red, heraldic rose with green sepals.

  • 1944 Normal school operations ceased in mid-October. The school became a refugee camp.
From the school chronicle: On December 12, 1944, the second transport came from Transylvania. With them a plague crept into the camp, the vermin ... because 70 refugees came from Silesia. And with them came worry and plague in abundance. Dissatisfaction, quarrels, insults against us were the order of the day, we longed for normal school operations.

kindergarten

In the early 1970s, Mayor Alois Bruckbauer decided to set up a kindergarten. On April 1, 1973 Treubach became one of the first small communities with a kindergarten. In the first year, Anna Epner took care of 26 children. Until she retired in 1996, she looked after around 600 children. Isabel Stadler is the kindergarten director and Edeltraud Frauscher is there to help.

Culture and sights

  • Parish church Treubach : Around 1200 there was the church of St. Barbara in Obertreubach, in Untertreubach the castle church. 1465 Treubach becomes a place of pilgrimage. 1729 onion dome instead of a pointed roof. 1742 St. Barbara's Church is destroyed; the material is used by the (castle) church in Untertreubach and Weng. 1785 Treubach becomes an independent parish. Renovation from 1830 to 1845. 1982 Tower gets copper roof - new church roof. 1985 cemetery expansion. 1987 Interior renovation - coin discovery: When removing the old floor, a brown jug was discovered containing coins wrapped in a cloth, consisting of 2156 Hellermünzen, Lienz denarii and 202 Viennese pfennings. A non-local person buried the coins in the Treubach church in 1364 (War of Bavarian princes around Tyrol). There is a separate book by the o.ö. Landesverlages with the historical background and coin types. The parish bought the coin treasure for the amount of 13,000 euros from the parish. 1992 new organ.
