Weng im Innkreis is a municipality in Upper Austria in the Braunau am Inn district in the Innviertel with 1,377 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2020).
geography
Weng im Innkreis is around 370 m above sea level. A. Höhe in the Inn Valley , on the western edge of the Innviertel hill country .
The extension is 4.9 km from north to south and 7.5 km from west to east. The total area is 21.4 km².
7.5% of the area is forested, 82.7% of the area is used for agriculture.

Population development
In 1991 the community had 1,312 inhabitants according to the census, in 2001 it had 1,389 inhabitants. The reason for the growth was a positive birth balance, which exceeded the slightly negative balance of migration . From 2001 to 2011 both balances were slightly negative, so that the population decreased to 1,365.
history
Since the founding of the Duchy of Bavaria , the place was Bavarian until 1779 and came to Austria after the Treaty of Teschen with the Innviertel (then Innbaiern) . During the Napoleonic Wars briefly Bavarian again , the place has been part of Austria on the Enns since 1816 ( Treaty of Munich ) .
With the creation of the local parishes after 1848/49 , Weng in the Innkreis became an independent parish in 1851. The municipality has belonged to the federal state of Upper Austria since 1918 . After Austria was annexed to the German Reich on March 13, 1938, it belonged to the Upper Danube Gau . In 1945 Upper Austria was restored.
