Backdating

In the backdating is a term from the legal sphere of the insurance contract .

In contrast to the so-called backward insurance , with backdating the technical is moved back before the formal start. It occurs in life insurance as well as in health insurance and in motor insurance.

Examples

  • Motor insurance is backdated in order to achieve a more favorable no-claims class earlier.
  • In life insurance, backdating occurs i. d. As a rule, in order to obtain a cheaper (lower) entry age, to receive a cheaper premium or to use tax advantages (the latter is only recognized to a very limited extent by the tax authorities).
