The Mimmenhausen-Neufrach – Frickingen line was a branch line in Baden-Württemberg. It was popularly known as the Salemertal Railway .
As early as 1863 there were initial plans to build a line from Mimmenhausen via Frickingen and Stockach to Engen . The first eight kilometers of this planned route were put into operation on November 30, 1905 by the Baden State Railways . There was no further construction.
On October 4, 1953, passenger traffic was stopped again. In 1969 the first thought was given to a complete closure of the line, but this did not take place until March 15, 1990. Diesel locomotives of the DB class 365 have been used in recent years .
In the last year of operation, only the Salem – Salem Nord section was in operation. 43 freight wagons, mainly for sugar beet traffic , were carried on the route this year.
The Salem – Frickingen section was closed on May 22, 1971.
The route has been completely dismantled, on the former station area of Frickingen there are some standard passenger cars as holiday accommodation.
