Relapse

Relapse means:

  • in the medicine
    • generally the recurrence of an illness after (temporary) improvement, see relapse
    • in the case of dependence on psychotropic substances (such as alcohol, heroin), renewed (uncontrolled) consumption of the substance after a phase of abstinence
  • In psychology and psychotherapy and everyday language, the slipping into problematic thought and action patterns (which have been discarded in the meantime) (psychology)
  • in criminal law the repeated execution of a criminal act, see relapse (criminal law)
  • in property and copyright law, a form of transferring property or rights back to a previous owner or person entitled to relapse, see law of relapse (jurisprudence)
