Arms export report

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The arms export report , the full report of the federal government on its export policy for conventional armaments , is an annual report by the German federal government on the export of war weapons . This applies to all goods and technologies that are classified in this category according to the War Weapons Control Act (KrWaffKontrG), the Foreign Trade Act (AWG) and the Foreign Trade Ordinance (AWV).

The arms export report was introduced in 1998 as a result of the coalition agreement between the SPD and Bündnis 90 / Die Grünen and was first published in 1999. Since 2014, an interim report with the approval figures for the first half of each year has also been published annually. He differentiates between two groups of recipient countries:

The annual arms export reports state the sums of individual and collective export licenses for armaments, most recently for the armaments export report published in June 2019 for the year 2018 with a total volume of 4.82 billion euros. The total volume thus decreased by 23% compared to the previous year (6.24 billion euros). The peak was 7.86 billion euros in 2015. In the individual chapters, the exports of the share of war weapons in armaments are broken down by type, recipient country, volume and value. However, rejected export applications are not listed in order not to serve as a source of information for countries with less restrictive export controls.

In addition, the arms export report shows numerous statistics, as well as a list of the countries against which an arms embargo has been imposed.
