Directional blasting system R-905

The R-905 is a directional radio station used in the Swiss Army . Roughly, this directional beam station consists of a transmitter and receiver (SE R-905) - in which the antenna mirror is also integrated - the control terminal (BT) - a receiver with keyboard and LCD - and a power supply (SA 95/1). There is also a 24 V battery , a tripod with guy ropes, a camouflage net, a cable reel and a residual current circuit breaker with an earth post. All of this can be carried individually, but together weighs around 230 kg.

A bundle key device (BSG 93) is connected to the SE via a maximum 4 km long optical fiber (LWL). The optical signal has a user data rate of either 2 Mibit / s or 8 Mibit / s.

The frequency range is between 14.64 GHz and 15.21 GHz, with a frequency separation of at least 150 MHz. The maximum range is around 50 km (55 km according to the old regulations). To increase the range, a maximum of two relay stations can be switched in between. A relay station consists of two R-905, which are connected with a fiber optic cable.

Telephone calls can be made to the other operators of the BSGs and the SEs via an unencrypted service channel, which is multiplexed into the useful and remote operating signals.
