The Rigibahn ( RB ) owns an electric cogwheel locomotive with the designation He 2/2 , which was delivered in 1938 and bears the number 18. It was purchased in 1938 from the Swiss Locomotive and Machine Factory in Winterthur, the electrical equipment comes from the BBC .

history

On the occasion of the electrification of the line in 1937, it quickly became apparent that the three Bhe 2/4 railcars were insufficient during peak times. For financial reasons, the decision was made to buy a locomotive because it was initially estimated at 40,000 francs cheaper than a fourth railcar. The high inflation at the time made the machine more expensive, so that at a purchase price of 87,170.55 Swiss francs it was only around 18,000 francs cheaper than the three railcars in 1937.

Technical

The two-axle locomotive has the same engines and gears as the three railcars delivered in 1937.

In 1974 it was rebuilt, it received new rail clearers for use with the Xrotm² 1 snow blower and a second pantograph with a steel grinding piece, which is used to free the catenary of hoarfrost and ice.

Operational

The locomotive is mainly used for transporting goods, but at peak times, along with two old originating from the steam era Vorstellwagen used. Since 1974 it has also been the vehicle that pushes the snow blower up the mountain.
