The RCAF Station Foymount also known as Canadian Forces Station Foymount , or CFS Foymount for short , was a military radar station in Foymount , Ontario , Canada . RCAF Station Foymount was opened in 1952 as part of the Pinetree Line by NORAD radar stations and operated by the 203 Radar Squadron . The radar itself was on a 523 meter high hill, one of the highest points in eastern Ontario (part of the Bonnechere Valley ). The main accommodation unit was Aircraft Control and Warning Squadron No. 32, which was later renamed Radar Squadron No. 32 when the semi-automatic ground environment system was implemented in 1961. In 1967 RCAF Station Foymount with the Association of Canadian Forces in CFS Foymount renamed. A few years later the base was declared redundant; Radars at CFS Falconbridge and CFS Lac St. Denis were considered to be sufficiently powerful to monitor the Foymount coverage area. The station was closed in 1974 and the buildings were sold to private interests.
