REMPAN network

The REMPAN network ( English R adiation E mergency M edical P reparedness and A ssistance N etwork ) is a network of WHO , which was set for medical help ray emergencies.

The network was established in 1987 in the aftermath of the Chernobyl disaster and works closely with the International Atomic Energy Agency . From originally four medical facilities and research institutions, the network grew to forty such locations within twenty years.

The network consists of collaborating centers (WHO CC) and liaison institutions . There are also numerous Oberservers .

The collaboration centers are institutions such as research facilities such as university clinics that support the REMPAN program. As of 2011, over 900 institutions in 99 countries worldwide were recognized as WHO CC. Active cooperation with the WHO is concluded for at least two years. In Germany , the Clinic and Polyclinic for Nuclear Medicine at the University Hospital Würzburg is a WHO CC.

The liaisons institutions are informal partners, each coordinated by a WHO CC.
