RIS (file format)

RIS (Research Information System Format) is a standardized file format for reference management and the export of bibliographic data. The format is structured in such a way that the corresponding information follows after certain predefined field names ( tags ) made up of two letters.

Example tags

The central RIS tags can be found below. The meaning of the tags partly differs according to the document type, e.g. For example, AU is used for “Editor” in the “Edited Book” type. Additional tags are defined for some document types. The day TY must appear at the beginning and the day ER must appear at the end of the data record. The other tags can be in any order.
