Rachad

Rachad ( Arabic رشاد, DMG Rašād ) is an Algerian socio-political movement that fundamentally rejects the military regime that has ruled Algeria since independence and is striving for a peaceful political transition in Algeria. She sees herself as a movement “for the rule of law and good governance in Algeria”.

founding

The Rachad movement was founded on April 18, 2007 by some Algerian opponents of the regime, including Abbas Aroua , Rachid Mesli , Mohamed Samraoui , the Algerian ex-diplomat Mohamed Larbi Zitout and the MIT doctoral student Mourad Dhina . They all form the current secretariat and board of the movement, with headquarters in London and living in exile.

aims

Above all, the movement advocates turning away from the current practices of the Algerian regime, which the movement understands as "the escalation of militarism, restrictions on freedom, political exclusion, abuse of rights, economic and social decline and the identity crisis". In addition, the goals of the Rachad movement range from the establishment of a constitutional state in Algeria, through equal rights for all citizens, to guaranteeing the transparency of the public sector.
