Rackstadmuseet

Rackstadmuseet is an art museum in the town of Arvika in the Swedish province of Värmland . The museum presents the work of the Rackengruppen artists ' colony (paintings and handicrafts) as well as contemporary artists and artisans from the region.

In the mid-1980s, Gustaf Fjæstad's idea , the central figure in the Rackengruppen artists' colony, was taken up to found a museum for arts and crafts. In 1987 a non-profit association was founded with the aim of raising the funds for the construction of a museum, in 1988 an architectural competition for the museum building was carried out, and in 1993 the museum was inaugurated.

The collections include pictures, handicrafts such as furniture, textiles, ceramics and glass that were created in the vicinity of the artist colony, as well as contemporary art and contemporary handicrafts that the museum received at exhibitions.
