Racquel Vasquez

Racquel Vasquez (* 1969 or 1970) is an American politician. She is Mayor of Lemon Grove , California .

Life

Racquel Vasquez grew up in Los Angeles . She studied media management at California State University, Northridge and graduated with a bachelor's degree in 1993. She worked for two years as a program manager for the city of Newport News , Virginia and for 16 years in public relations for the city of San Diego . She moved to Lemon Grove in 2001. There she was the public relations officer for the city and, from 2007, also planning commissioner. She has been a member of the city council since 2012. She is the recipient of the President's Volunteer Service Award .

She is married and has two daughters.

Mayoress

In 2016, she was elected mayor of Lemon Grove to succeed Mary Sessom by a margin of 2.71 percent, as San Diego County's first African-American mayor .
