Radio Insurgente
Radio Insurgente is an underground radio station and the official voice of the Zapatista National Liberation Army (EZLN) . Radio Insurgente broadcasts from southeastern Mexico, which is striving for autonomy, and is independent of the Mexican government. The station spreads the ideas and content of the Zapatista resistance .

Radio Insurgente broadcasts on VHF from various stations in the mountains of the Mexican southeast. The station can be heard on VHF and shortwave, as well as on its website and in its own CD productions.

Radio Insurgente broadcasts on VHF :
- For the Altos de Chiapas zone (Tzotzil, Tzeltal, Chol ...) on the frequency 97.9 MHz
- For the Selva Fronteriza zone (Tzeltal, Tojolabal…) on the frequency 97.9 MHz
- For the Selva Tzeltal zone on frequencies 100.1 and 89.3 MHz
- For the Norte zone (Tzotzil, Tzeltal, Chol ...) on the frequency 102.1 MHz
- For the Zotz Choj zone (Tzeltal, Tojolabal ...) on the frequency 92.9 MHz
Shortwave
Radio Insurgente broadcasts on shortwave every Friday from 3:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. (time in Mexico City, GMT –6) on the frequency 6,000 kHz in the 49-meter band.

The regional program is aimed at the regional civil society, as well as at the rebels, militiamen, comandantes and comandantas of the EZLN. In addition to Spanish, this program is also broadcast in the indigenous languages Tzotzil , Tzeltal , Chol and Tojolabal.
In terms of content, the station broadcasts local, national and international news as well as music, political messages, fairy tales and radio plays. The music program consists of traditional music from the indigenous communities as well as Zapatista corridos, revolutionary music and various international music.
Insurgente broadcasts once a week on shortwave. The program is aimed specifically at the population of Mexico, North, Central and South America, as well as all other interested parties. It informs regularly about current events in Chiapas and about the Zapatista autonomy. The history of the EZLN, the rights of indigenous women, and many other topics are also part of the program. In addition, the short wave broadcast with music and stories or fairy tales from Chiapas provides entertainment.
Producciones Radio Insurgente
Since 2007 a recording studio has been set up in the Zapatista area. PRODUCCIONES RADIO INSURGENTE works there. A team of members of the EZLN was trained in professional recording technology. Bands from different communities come to the studio to record their own CDs free of charge. The technical crew cuts, processes and masters the recordings. CDs are pressed on site. The recorded productions can be heard on the various RI broadcasting stations.
