A radio network controller (RNC) with the Node Bs ( base stations ) connected to it is referred to as a radio network subsystem , or RNS for short , in UMTS mobile radio networks .
The complete system structure of the UMTS network, i.e. the connection of several RNS with each other and with the core network, is called UTRAN .
