Raemmelkenbrücke
The Raemmelkenbrücke was a bridge in the area of today's Rheda-Wiedenbrück on the way between the Rheda district and Oelde . According to legend, a ghost should have dwelt under this which frightened hikers when they passed. To protect themselves from this, hikers should say the following saying:
- Raemmelken, Raemmelken, shake yourself,
- are you from God, come to me
- are you from the devil, stay from me!
- Rämelken, Rämelken trunk di!
- God kumm thaw mi!
- You're owwer von'n Düwel goah von mi!
At the place of the old bridge there is now a memorial stone with this saying.
