Speyer refinery

The Speyer refinery was a refinery of Union-Treibstoff-GmbH in Speyer , which went into operation in 1965 and had a throughput capacity of 2.5 million tons per year. It was also the largest cracked gas plant on the continent with an annual capacity of 900 million cubic meters of town gas. The tallest chimney at the Speyer refinery was built in 1978 and was 200 meters high. It was demolished on September 12, 1986, four years after the plant was shut down.
