Abdul Rahman Mohmand
Abdul Rahman Mohmand , Pashto :عبدالرحمان مومند, also known as Rahman Baba ,رحمان بابا, (* around 1651; † 1709 ) was a Pashtun Sufi poet of the order of the Chishtiyya . He was strongly influenced by the Persian Sufis of India and Iran (especially by Mowlana Rumi, Al-Haq etc.). His poems, written in Pashto, deal with ethical issues, above all love and mysticism .
He is said to have led a withdrawn and lonely life and was buried in a cemetery near the city of Peshawar after his death . His grave is still visited today by devout pilgrims, and, as is customary with Chishti dervishes , there are often musicians playing religious songs at his grave.
