Rahula (Dharma Protector)

Rahula

Rahula is a Dharmapala (protector of the Buddha's teachings) of Tibetan Buddhism . The protector Rahula is a so-called "oath-bound protector" (Tibetan Dam Chen ), a spirit being who was subjugated in the 8th century by the great tantric master Padmasambhava and bound to the Dharma under oath . Rahula is linked to the teachings of Dzogchen and not only protects them against attacks from outside, but also protects these high teachings from being falsified by misinterpretation and false commentary by Dzogchen practitioners themselves. In addition, Rahula is considered the personal protection deity of the 5th Dalai Lama Ngawang Lobsang Gyatso , who was himself a great dzogchen master.
