Rahva Sõna

Rahva Sõna ("The Word of the People") was a national political newspaper in Estonia from 1927 to 1938 . She was the most important mouthpiece of the Estonian social democracy in the interwar period .

The first edition came out on March 1, 1927. From 1927 to 1934 Rahva Sõna appeared as a daily newspaper six times a week. Due to a declining readership, it was only published twice a week from April 1, 1933. From 1935 to 1938 it came out only once a month.

The editorial office was in the Estonian capital Tallinn . In 1927/28 the social democratic politician August Rei was editor-in-chief of the newspaper.

On September 23, 1938, the newspaper was shut down by the authoritarian right-wing government of Konstantin Päts .
