Raid (computer game)

Raid is a term that occurs primarily in massively multiplayer online role-playing games (MMORPG). It is based on the original meaning of the English word raid (in German: raid , raid ) and describes either a looting / attack on a play area or a short-term association of several players (also: raid party ). Often the goal of a raid is only to defeat an overpowering opponent ( mob ).

In many MMORPG opportunities for raids are given by the providers / server operators. In certain dungeons , for example, all opponents can be killed or cities attacked - this is usually not possible for a single player, raid opportunities are usually designed in such a way that the presence and cooperation of many players is imperative. Usually 10 to 40 players are involved in raids, but there are also raids with 100 or more players. Raids are one of the most popular activities in an MMORPG. One type of raid is the retribution raid , which describes a grouping of players in order to carry out targeted acts of revenge against other players.

A raid can e.g. B. against a city of an enemy faction or against a strong opponent in dungeons.
