The Rail Power Systems GmbH is a company engaged in the research and development and the design, manufacture and installation of systems of railway electrification for long-distance and local traffic. It was founded with effect from November 1, 2015 with the transfer of the equipment and rail energy supply business areas of Balfour Beatty Rail GmbH. The equipment and rail energy supply business areas are supplemented by the system technology competence area, which as a superordinate link regards the rail system as a whole.

history

In August 2016, the shares in Rail Power System GmbH (formerly Balfour Beatty Rail GmbH) and RPS Signal GmbH were transferred to Tianjin Keyvia Electric Co., Ltd (Keyvia). Tianjin Keyvia Electric Co., Ltd, founded in 2000 and based in Tianjin, has been listed on the Shenzhen and Shanghai stock exchanges since November 2014. Keyvia is active in the field of research and development as well as the planning, manufacture and installation of rail electrification systems for long-distance and local transport. Keyvia and the German Rail Power Systems GmbH have been working together as a joint venture TJBB since 2009 in the field of switchgear for DC railways for the Chinese market.

Her predecessor companies include AEG (founded 1889), ABB (founded 1988), ADtranz (founded 1996), Balfour Beatty (founded 1907), Balfour Beatty Rail GmbH (founded 2000). The company, whose name has changed several times over the years, can look back on a long tradition and experience in rail electrification.

Rail Power Systems, headquartered in Munich, has branches in Berlin, Bochum, Dresden, Ettlingen, Leipzig, Offenbach, Viernheim and Staßfurt throughout Germany.
