Rakarrack is a guitar effects processor for GNU / Linux . Rakarrack combines different effects in one program, including equalizer , compressor , distortion , overdrive , echo , chorus , phaser , flanger , reverb , harmonizer and wah-wah . The simulation of various loudspeakers (cabinets) can also be selected. The program contains around 80 typical musician-created presets, ranging from acoustic sound to extreme distortion. Finished presets and your own settings can be grouped in banks. The operation of Rakarrack, e.g. B. Switching between the presets of a bank as well as changing individual parameters is possible via MIDI , whereby the presets can be changed by changing the midi instrument (midi: program change) and the assignment of individual parameters via the sound influence (midi: control change ) happens and can also be learned. Rakarrack's approach is to map all typical effects devices (floor kicks) of a guitarist in software. In addition to the sound effects, the program therefore has a tuner and a MIDI converter .

A large part of the effects is based on those of the software synthesizer ZynAddSubFX .

Rakarrack requires the JACK pro audio interface . In typical use, the program only generates a moderate CPU load; Operation with netbooks is therefore possible without any problems.

The source code is freely available under the GNU General Public License . The graphical user interface uses FLTK .
