Squeegee stripes in gravure printing

Squeegee stripes are stripes or lines in the print image that follow the squeegee stroke (oscillating movement). They are caused by hard foreign bodies that have lodged between the squeegee and the printing forme cylinder or in the cells , thereby damaging the squeegee bevel. Small damage occurs on the squeegee bevel, so that the squeegee can no longer squeegee cleanly at these points. Another cause of doctor streaks can be the formation of agglomerates due to the rapid addition of large amounts of solvent. The binders are detached from the pigment particles, which can then combine to form a solid agglomerate. Squeegee streaks are corrected by replacing the damaged squeegee with a new one.
