Ralfs Nemiro (* 1980 ) is a Latvian lawyer and politician . From January 2019 to March 2020 he was Minister of Economic Affairs in his country.

Life

Ralfs Nemiro was born in 1981 in what was then the Latvian SSR . After graduating from school, he started working for various authorities and law firms in 2001. He also completed a law degree at the University of Latvia , which he completed with a master's degree in 2009.

In April 2018 he co-founded the Riga-based environmental organization Sakop vidi! , as their lawyer since then u. a. is working.

Political career

From June 2017 to October 2018 Nemiro was a member of the regional parliament of Jelgava . In the parliamentary elections in 2018 he stood as a candidate for the KPV LV and was able to win a seat in parliament ( Saeima ) for them. As part of the coalition negotiations, he was nominated by his party as Minister of Economics and has been a member of the Kariņš cabinet since he took office on January 23, 2019.

In March 2020, his security clearance for state secrets was withdrawn. Whether and in what connection this was with some controversial decisions regarding his environment cannot be understood. On March 16, he resigned as Minister of Economic Affairs and on April 2, Jānis Vitenbergs was sworn in as his successor. Nemiro then resumed his mandate as a member of parliament, which had been suspended while he was minister.
