history

The rally was held in 1981 by MSC Purkersdorf for the first time under the name Semperit Rally in the Waldviertel of the Austrian state of Lower Austria . A year later, the ÖAMTC ZV Baden and the Austrian rally club took over the organization of the rally, which was then renamed the Waldviertel rally in 2001 .

In 2002 the MSRR Neulengbach replaced the Austrian rally club as co-organizer and in 2004 the event was named OMV Rally Waldviertel and finally in 2008 the name Rallye Waldviertel .

In 2018, for financial reasons, the rally was only held as a day sprint rally without championship status.
