Ralph Korte is an American entrepreneur and the first donor of the 1996 X-Prize .

He has four children and eight grandchildren with his wife, Donna, and resides in Highland , Illinois .

Korte founded in 1958 in Illinois , the company Korte Construction Company . Under his leadership, the company grew into one of the largest construction companies east of St. Louis .

He was the first founder of the X-Prize Foundation and is a member of its committee.
