Ramón Emilio Jiménez

Ramón Emilio Jiménez (born September 17, 1886 in Santiago de los Caballeros , † November 13, 1971 in Santo Domingo ) was a Dominican writer.

Jiménez attended school in his hometown and studied at the Escuela Normal de Santiago Emilio Prud Homme . He worked for many years as a teacher and was active in the civil service as minister of education for the Departamento Norte, school inspector and state secretary for education. In 1933 he published the collection La patria en la canción , a work that was used for decades as a school hymn book and 63 composers took part in the setting. Other works are Del Lenguaje Dominicano , Naturaleza y Hombre , El Patriotismo y la escuela , Espigas sueltas , Savia Dominicana and Amor de Bohio . Jiménez also wrote several biographies.
