The Ramal de Guia de Pacobaíba is a railway line in Brazil .

history

The Guia de Pacabaíba (EF Mauá) siding was inaugurated in 1854 and was the first rail line in Brazil with a gauge of 1.676 m. It connected the port of Mauá at the end of the Guanabara Bay with Fragoso, a station about 14 km in the hinterland. This is where the Baroneza operated, as the first steam locomotive that operated in Brazil was called. Later in 1856 the rail line was extended to Raiz da Serra and from here it was to be led to Petrópolis, but this was not realized until 30 years later by another company (EF Príncipe do Grão Pará). In 1890 the line was taken over into the Estrada de Ferro Leopoldina and from now on was only seen as a siding of the Linha do Norte of the Leopoldina. On December 19, 1962, this section of the route was closed.
