Ramuschenti

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Ramuschenti was a local prince in Egypt during the 11th Dynasty. His main title was Great Head of the Saber Antelope Gau . He was thus Gaufürst in this province. Ramuschenti is best known from his grave in Beni Hasan (No. 27). It is a rock grave with a painted cult chapel carved into the rock. Only two walls of this cult chapel were painted in antiquity , apparently the image program was never completed. The murals have suffered badly from improper modern restorations. The chronological classification of Ramuschenti is controversial in research. It was initially placed in the First Intermediate Period . Recent research favors dating to the 11th dynasty (around 2020 BC).
