Edge waste

Edge waste stands for:

  • the reduction of a certain size towards the edge of the area under consideration, e.g. the reduction in the particle density of a particle beam towards the edge of the beam or the attenuation of an electric field at the edge of a capture reflector or an antenna, etc.,
  • the natural drop in edge light , i.e. that the image brightness decreases when imaging a uniformly bright motif through a lens compared to the brightness in the center of the image, see Cos4 law
  • a margin which is necessary for printing purposes and protrudes beyond the final format of a printed matter, which is trimmed after printing, see printer language # trim
