Randall Kennedy

Randall L. Kennedy (born 1954 in Columbia , South Carolina) is an African-American lawyer and professor at Harvard Law School and author.

In 2002 he caused a sensation with his work " Nigger . The strange career of a troublesome word", in which he deals with the cultural-historical aspect of the word.

His other works are

  • Interracial Intimacies: Sex, Marriage, Identity and Adoption (Pantheon Books 2003) and
  • Race, Crime, and the Law (Pantheon 1997).

In addition to books, Kennedy writes essays and individual papers, including Comment and Discussion on Hate Crimes / Hate Speech from Speech and Equality: Do We Really Have to Choose? (LaMarche, Gara eds., 1996) In 1998, Kennedy was elected to the American Academy of Arts and Sciences and the American Philosophical Society .
