Edge arch

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The term edge sheet refers to the geometric shape of the outer end of a wing of an aircraft . The red and green position lights are often integrated into the edge arch.

Since the shape of the wing tip has an influence on the induced air resistance , the edge curve was a starting point for the Dornier company in the 1970s when optimizing the aerodynamics of wings: As part of the wing of new technology (TNT) project, they developed the TNT edge curve , which was used in the Do 228 from the 1980s and is often identified today with the term edge arch .
